The IT/GIS department is responsible for hardware, software, infrastructure and telecommunication requirements for the users working for Greenwood County Government. We are committed to delivering the best technology tools to county staff to enable them to accomplish their daily assignments and provide superior customer service.

 

Manage County Network Infrastructure

Responsible for keeping the County network infrastructure and all peripherals performing and functioning efficiently at all times. Perform daily backups of all major computer systems within the County.

 

Manage Comprehensive Countywide Geographic Information System

Responsible for promoting, managing and coordinating the development of a comprehensive countywide geographic information system (GIS) in order to support the analytical, statistical, and mapping needs of Greenwood County.

 

Develop GIS Applications

Responsible for developing, documenting and implementing GIS applications and for training GIS users countywide.

 

Ensure Technology Standards

To assure that the GIS technology is implemented in the most efficient, and cost effective way. Responsible for implementing GIS technology that will improve the efficiency of County operations.

Greenwood County Address Management is responsible for issuing physical property addresses in the unincorporated areas, City of Greenwood, Town of Ninety Six, Town of Ware Shoals, and Town of Troy.

Tax Parcel Maintenance and Editing

  • Maintain Tax Map Parcel Layer 

  • Create new tax parcels per Deed/Plat/Assessor's Split Form

  • Research parcel history using deeds and plats when needed to verify parcel lines, acreage, and geometry

  • Redraw tax parcels per new surveys, if necessary

  • Combine multiple tax parcels per owner request

How do I get a large format print of my property?

From the GIS department in room B-32 of the County Courthouse. The cost is $10 - $15 per map, depending on the size and/or customization. 

How recent is the data on the Online Maps website?

The property line work is live. Assessor data is updated nightly.

How do I sign-up for the Online Maps subscription service?

Greenwood County Address Management is responsible for issuing physical property addresses in the unincorporated areas of the county, City of Greenwood, Towns of Ninety Six, Ware Shoals, and Troy. These procedures are necessary in order to ensure proper quality control and data management operations.

How do I get a physical Address?
First, you must contact Greenwood County Address Management by phone at (864) 942-3159 or (864) 942-8659 or use the Online Address Application Form.

How do I get a E911 Reflective Address sign?
Some local volunteer Fire Departments sell reflective green 911 signs and posts. The signs are also available at local retailers in Greenwood or online sites.

How long do I have to install a permanent county prescribed reflective sign on my property or place of business?
Preferably within 15 days after assignment of a number.

Where on my property should I install my permanent E911 reflective sign?
Emergency 911 reflective sign shall be installed on your side of the road, near the left side of the driveway entrance (as you enter your property), and clearly visible from the main road.

Am I required to install an Emergency 911 reflective sign on my property?
Yes. Greenwood County Ordinance, set the standards which all address numbers are assigned in the unincorporated areas of the county, City of Greenwood, Towns of Ninety Six, Ware Shoals, and Troy.

Also, Greenwood County Address Management sets the standards for property number and sign location.

What could happen to me if I don’t install a permanent E911 reflective sign on my property?
Greenwood County Ordinance states that any person found in violation of this ordinance shall be subject to a penalty per violation until such time the violation is corrected.
